Initiate an industry-wide fundraising event to support the first Future Designers Summit scheduled to be held from September 20 to 22.
The fall conference is considered to be an educational experience for future design leaders who will focus on furniture, textiles, lighting, interior design, architecture and related products.
American students will submit their applications before February 28, and they will get a maximum of 50 places, which will be announced in April. In addition to the application form, students will also submit an essay, imagine their future role in the design, provide examples of their portfolio, and get a recommendation from the professor.
"The future of our industry requires us to attract and train young talents now," said Karla Jones, Executive Director of Bienenstock Furniture Library. In her speech on behalf of the executive committee and board of directors of non-profit organizations, she added: "Our mission is to enable students to maximize their creative potential by exposing students to various opportunities in the industry before graduation."
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in well-planned educational programs and social activities. The three-day schedule includes an opening reception, a roster of keynote speakers, visits to manufacturing and other facilities, and a panel discussion led by industry experts.
The sponsors and contributors of the event helped offset the travel, accommodation, and dining expenses of each student participant, and paid for the development and marketing of the program.
Various levels of donations are outlined, including corporate sponsorship and personal donations. Early commitments at the company's sponsorship level include Broyhill Family Foundation, Davis Furniture, Otto & Moore, Inc., Furniture World Magazine, Savor Partnership and Tomlinson Furniture Brand Group.
The commitments of Friends of the Library include Cohab Space, Congdon Yards, Eicholz, Fairfield, High Point Theater, High Point Visitors Bureau, HPxD, Phillips Collection and Verellen.
