If you want to rent part of the Union City Auditorium, you may soon have more options.
For league residents, the main stadium with a capacity of 400 people can rent as low as $25 per hour (minimum two hours) and as high as $600 per hour during any two days on Friday and Saturday. Or Sunday.
Park Director Chad Pohlmann said at the Park Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, November 19: “Some of us may prefer to use these facilities on an hourly basis, perhaps for a volleyball team, a basketball team or a football.” "I use those references, those sports games, but (absolutely) it is not necessarily a sports game."
If you just want to use the gym from 10 am to midnight of the day, the fee for Union residents is $400.
For non-residents, the cost jumped to $40 per hour, $550 for one day or $750 for two days. All gym rentals require a $500 deposit.
Suzy Curnutte, chairman of the board of directors, said of the fees: "I look at them and I think they are fair."
Someone asked Polman if a team can pay a deposit of $500 at a time so that they can practice multiple times in a season. He said this may become possible once the park department leaves its existing cash deposit system.
Polman said: "It entered the safe, but I didn't like it very much." He added that the department's deposits have been stored in the safe for many years. "In this case, I would encourage the signing of an annual agreement with the entity."
If the tenant needs items such as tables and chairs or volleyball or kimchi nets, the lease agreement will charge extra.
Residents of the gymnasium charge $400 for two days, and non-residents charge $500 for two days. They both have a deposit of 150 dollars. During the week, its hourly rent is $75 per hour.
Perlman offered comparable prices for other facilities in the area, saying that the Moose Lodge in Washington charged $350 for members and $450 for non-members, while Best Western charges $900 for weddings.
The auditorium in Washington City also offers different packages for the gymnasium, which cost $500 a week, $600 on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, and $800 for two days.
small room
The downstairs of the Union Auditorium building used to be the City Hall, and the meeting room for the former board of directors will be rented out for $10 an hour. The meeting room costs $15 an hour, while the training room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, and the rent is $20 an hour.
All rooms need to be booked for at least two hours and a deposit of USD 500 is required.
The meeting room downstairs was previously rented at USD 75 per day, plus a deposit of USD 100.
These changes will expand the availability of meeting rooms from the current availability to between 8 am and 10 pm 7 days a week, while the park department is only open from Monday to Friday.
Polman said that after board members asked if there were 50 people that could accommodate the board meeting room where the current park board meets, they should check the listed capacity of some of the meeting rooms.
He said: "I don't want to rent this room out with expectations. They didn't see it, there were only 50 people."
All funds raised through rent will be returned to Union's general fund.
Now, the proposal must be submitted to the council of parliamentarians for consideration at its parks, buildings, development and public service committee meetings.
