The holographic collaboration platform of augmented reality and virtual reality today announced the addition of a new auditorium environment and other functions and updates.

Spatial told SiliconANGLE that in this era of continuous remote work, the company will continue to grow, and since the launch of Oculus Quest 2 in September, its usage has increased tenfold. The company's platform can run on Quest, HoloLens, Magic Leap devices, desktops and mobile devices.

The new Spatial Auditorium can accommodate more than 40 people and can be used for various activities, from lectures and conferences to full participation meetings. Even in this era when COVID-19 has pushed many businesses away, it has allowed remote work and large meetings to continue.

With virtual settings, meetings can still be conducted at home, but even if they wear a headset, they can "see" their colleagues sitting next to them, even if they are sitting in a home office chair in front of the computer, hundreds or thousands of miles apart.

Florian Couret, head of digital innovation at BNP Paribas SA, BNP Paribas SA, said: “From now on, we will use space in meetings as the only solution.” We use Spatial on Magic Leap for real estate development plans in multiple offices. Being able to view 3D information and feel that we are actually in the meeting room with colleagues, which helps us reduce a lot of travel."

In the platform update, Spatial now also supports Microsoft Office Suite Word documents, Powerpoint slides and Excel spreadsheets, Google Drive, OneDrive and SharePoint integration. Users can link their existing cloud services and easily pull files into Spatial.

Spatial has improved the updated hand tracking of the controller to teleport it to a seat or hotspot in the Quest VR environment and use your fingertips to move objects.

For content updates, the text readability of documents can now be improved, the meeting room has an automatic save function, the meeting room now has a larger boundary to allow larger group scenes, and the video now has MP4 loop support. For anyone who wants to do "fist collision", the avatar has become better and the reaction becomes more agile. In terms of technology, the latest Oculus software development kit has been integrated, and ARKit meshing and occlusion have been added for lidar-enabled devices.

Spatial said it will continue to improve its platform for remote workers and enterprise users in the coming months.
