Goshen, Indiana (AP)—After more than a year of renovation, the Opera Theatre completed a $5.2 million renovation project aimed at modernizing and protecting the 115-year-old landmark.
In addition to the new roof, the update also includes expanding the restrooms, adding an elevator to the four-story building, refurbishing the banquet hall, and installing new seats, floors, wall coverings and stage curtains.
A remodeled lobby and a new ticket office have also been added.
This 700-seat auditorium was built in 1905 and served as a model for the Goshen shopping district until it closed in 1986. The church then took over the space. In 2014, Goshen Theatre Inc. purchased the building and began renovations.
The theater is currently planning a schedule for 2021.
